Ethics & Sustainability

Award-winning energy saving secondary glazing in Scotland

Our ethics and sustainability

Cocoon is deeply invested in helping companies and households across Scotland reduce their carbon footprint and save money using our suite of energy saving products: InvisiTherm®, InvisiSeal® and InvisiFilm®.

The circular economy

We live in a society where we regularly upgrade our gadgets to the latest model, but we don’t design them to be re-used or re-purposed. The circular economy is an alternative to model our ‘make, use, dispose of’ culture, which involves the use of products that can be recycled and re-used multiple times for the benefit of our environment.

At Cocoon, we can recycle over 98% of the materials used in the production and installation of our secondary glazing systems.

Chain of custody

Chain of custody certification proves that the timber we use has originated from sustainable managed forests.

The wood we use in wooden beading is PEFC and FSC certified, meaning it is obtained from entirely sustainable and managed sources.

A living wage employer

The living wage is an hourly rate of pay set annually and calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. All employees of Cocoon receive wages well over the living wage, and we are an accredited Living Wage Employer.

We ensure that each member of the company receives personal development training. We also fund training in other areas that our employees wish to explore, such as IT training.

To ensure that our staff care about our company as much as we do, and to show our appreciation for their hard work and effort, we have enrolled all our staff members on our company share scheme, with the company being  part owned by the staff.

End-of-life policy

If you decide you no longer require our InvisiTherm® systems, we will remove them free of charge. All the removed items will be recycled where possible or used in fuel-poor households.

We ensure that our products have an intentional end of life purpose. Where our systems are re-purposed into fuel-poor households , the off-cut polycarbonate is recycled into grade 2 polycarbonate. We even collect the polycarbonate dust in our vacuum bags and turn it into black bin bags. Nothing is wasted at Cocoon; we are committed to recycling and re-using our products to reduce our impact on the environment.

What our customers say

“Cocoon has visibly reduced the amount of condensation that we used to face every winter. We have turned our night storage heaters down by two points [approximately 25% in winter] as our rooms were just too hot. We no longer hear the street noise at the annoying levels that we used to and last but by no means least, we sometimes even forget it is there.”

CS, Abernethy

“Well what can I say the overall look of the windows are fantastic, I really didn't expect them to look as fab as they do. Both myself and Andrew are thrilled with them they just blend in so well. Would like to say a big thank you to you for everything you have done and again thank you to your team for doing a wonderful job.”
