Our Ethics & Sustainability. Energy saving products in Scotland

Glaze & Save is committed to helping companies and households save money on their energy bills with our suite of energy saving products: InvisiTherm™, InvisiSeal™ and InvisiFilm™.

Our CEO Tanya Ewing PhD, FRSA was the Top Scot for the Environment in 2008 and has instilled a passion to create a company fitting into the circular economy model, with our recycle rate over 95%.
The circular economy

The Circular Economy

We live in a society where it is normal to regularly upgrade our gadgets to the latest model but we don’t design them to be re-used or re-purposed. The circular economy is an alternative to model our ‘make, use, dispose’ culture which means re-using products and materials continually. At the moment we tend to make goods, use them and then throw them away.

In the circular economy your phone would have been designed so it could be easily repaired, and upgraded to prolong its use.  At the end of its useful life, the phone would be easy to disassemble so that the components and raw materials could be re-used in another phone, made into a different product, or returned safely to nature.

By recycling over 95% of the materials used in our production and installation process ,we hope to create a company that is as sustainable as it is innovative.

Sustainable wood

Chain of Custody

Chain of Custody certification proves that any timber being used originates from sustainable managed forests. This is a voluntary process which ensures that wood or wood products are from certified forests on account of stringent tracking requirements.

All of the wood used in our wooden beading has chain of custody certification, meaning your wooden beading is from entirely sustainable sources.

A Living Wage Employer

The Living Wage is a voluntary hourly rate of pay set annually and calculated according to the basic cost of living in the UK. All employees of Glaze & Save receive a wage well in excess of the Living Wage, and we are an accredited Living Wage Employer.

The Living Wage affords people the opportunity to provide for themselves and their families; however it also has a benefit for our business, with a survey carried out by the Living Wage foundation showing that 75% of employees reported increases in work quality as a result of receiving the Living Wage. It’s a small price to pay to demonstrate our commitment to our staff.

As a further commitment to our staff, we ensure that each member of the company receives personal development training. We also fund training into other areas that staff members wish to explore, such as IT training.

To ensure that our staff care about the company as much as we do, as well as to show our appreciation for their hard work and effort, the staff are also part of a company share scheme, with 20% of the company being owned by the staff. New Paragraph

End of Life Policy

If you decide you no longer require our InvisiTherm™ systems, we will remove them free of charge. As we are committed to reducing waste and saving energy, the systems will then be used in fuel-poor households with all unused systems being full recycled.

We ensure that everything we use had an intention end of life purpose. Where our systems are repurposed into fuel-poor households , the off cuts of polycarbonate recycled into Grade 2 polycarbonate. We even collect the polycarbonate dust from our vacuum bags and have these turned into black bin bags. Nothing is wasted at Glaze & Save, and we are committed to constantly innovating to reduce out impact on the environment more and more.
